Cavallo Point Lodge is pleased to be the official “training camp” location for the Energy Team, the French America’s Cup sailing team, in 2012-13. The team will stay at the lodge throughout the qualifying rounds, San Francisco’s Second America’s Cup World Series, Oct. 2-7. The World Series races lead up to the final races in September 2013, where international teams will represent their countries in the 34th America’s Cup sailing competition.
Among the members of the Energy Team are two legendary icons in professional sailing, brothers Bruno and Loïck Peyron. Bruno, the CEO of Energy Team, is a three-time holder of the Jules Verne trophy (the prize for the fastest circumnavigation of the world by any type of yacht) and holds 39 oceanic records. Loïck Peyron, co-skipper of Energy Team, is also a Jules Verne trophy winner with 42 Atlantic crossings to his credit. A three-time OSTAR winner (single-handed trans-Atlantic yacht race), Loïck was also co-skipper of Alinghi in the 2010 America’s Cup, and he has been named one of the top 10 favorite athletes in France.
“Cavallo Point Lodge welcomes the Energy Team. We hope they embrace the lodge as a home base while they train,” said Euan Taylor, general manager of Cavallo Point Lodge. “On a personal note, I am thrilled to be the sixth man on the Energy Team boat in a race at the end of this week.”
Cavallo Point Lodge offers a full complement of amenities for the Energy Team, from spa treatments and yoga to a customized high-protein, high-carbohydrate menu at Murray Circle restaurant. The team also takes advantage of the lodge’s access to running and biking trails through the Marin Headlands.
