The Energy Team AC45, which was moored up in front of the base in San Francisco broke free during Saturday night. After drifting in the Bay, the multihull was recovered a mile out to sea near Treasure Island. Fortunately, the sea was calm and the damage was very limited. The AC45 is now back in the French challenger’s base and the team has carried out repairs, which should enable the crew to sail again on Monday. Loïck Peyron would like to thank all those involved in the recovery of the French multihull and has invited on board the person, who discovered that the AC45 was drifting in the Bay. Iain Murray, the Race Director has said that his team will be reviewing the procedures, in order to ensure the safety of all the boats in the future.
